Nadia El-Awady

About Nadia El-Awady

Nadia El-Awady is an Egyptian freelance science journalist and editor currently based in the UK. She is the acting chief editor of Nature Middle East, and she freelances for other Springer-Nature publications and for Asia Research News.

El-Awady has worked as a science journalist for 20 years for a large number of international publications. She also taught online and science journalism for a short time at Al-Ahram Canadian University in Egypt. She also helped organize a large World Federation of Science Journalists training program for journalists in Africa and the Arab region.

El-Awady also coordinated training programs for the International Center for Journalists. She has a degree in medicine from Cairo University and a master’s in journalism from the American University in Cairo. In her spare time, she is a sports enthusiast. She has climbed mountains, cycled across Europe, dived in the Red Sea, and completed an Ironman. El-Awady is also the mother of four grown children.
